History
James Madison Womens Club Volleyball Team was established on April 19, 1996 when a group of girls met before Sport Club Council to gain recognition as a sports club. We have attended NIRSA National Championships every year since we began and in 2004 we beat University of Kentucky in the finals to win the NIRSA Division 1 National Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina. We had several girls make all-tournament teams. Erin Frahm was named MVP and also made frist team. Caroline Boyd and Eri Fuchigama also made first team as an outside hitter and defensive specialist respectively. In 2006 we joined the Carolina Women's Collegiate Vollyball League (CWCVL) which was created "to provide opportunities for participation in quality athletic sporting events, which foster the physical, emotional, social, and psychological growth of its participants."
General Information
We are a competitive group of about 24 ladies from the East Coast. We practice 3-4 times a week and compete in about 4 tournaments per semester, including NIRSA National Championships in April at the Division 1 level. The season lasts for the whole school year, starting in September and ending in April. Tryouts are held in the beginning of each school year, typically the 2nd or 3rd week in September. Each year we have a booth at Student Organization Night, which is held early in September, where girls can sign up for tryouts and get information about the upcoming season.
